A very quiet day for fundamental news on the economic calendar in both Europe and the US, with no news due for release in America this afternoon, and the European markets having already had their announcements.  The first of these was French Industrial Production which came in significantly worse than expected at -1.4% against a forecast of -0.4%, and the equivalent for Italy even worse at -4.6% against a forecast of -1.7%.  Both numbers helped to ease the euro lower against the US dollar in early trading.  The remainder of the week has the usual host of announcements of fundamental news with the most significant items being retail sales in the US on Wednesday, PPI and unemployment on Thursday coupled with the ECB monthly bulletin for Europe and closing on Friday with German Preliminary GDP in Europe and core CPI in the US.
